Experience Ohio’s Adventure Trails

By Juliana Khusid

On June 8, the Ohio General Assembly officially designated 2018 as the “Year of the Trails” in Ohio. Through the www.trails.ohiodnr.gov website, the Year of the Trails initiative celebrates the more than 5,000 miles of natural trails across Ohio, including those for hiking, biking, paddling, and horseback riding.

As part of the effort to raise awareness about Ohio’s many nature and adventure trails, in May TourismOhio launched an interactive map featuring more than 30 Ohio Adventure Trails via www.Ohio.org. Adventure trail categories include coffee, spirits, food, shopping, sightseeing, and history.

Since the May 7 launch of the Ohio Adventure Trails page on www.Ohio.org, we’ve received over 45,000 page views. Over 70% of the views have come from social media and users are spending about 2:17 on the site which is more than twice the time spent on www.Ohio.org in 2018.

TourismOhio welcomes additional trails and will be happy to add them to the Adventure Trails website, which presently includes over 40 trails and 700 stops.
