Warmer weather has arrived, and Ohio is in no shortage of fun festivals and events to get out and experience. From family-friendly festivals to rock and roll music to grand openings and more, you'll find your new favorite way to celebrate this May. Here are a few of Ohio's best festivals and events happening this month!

Southeast

Feast of the Flowering Moon, May 24-27

This festival brings a combination of free education and entertainment for the entire family. This year marks the 35th anniversary of this historic festival celebrating the rich Native American heritage of Chillicothe and featuring dancers, drummers, crafters and more. With plenty of rides, food and games you’ll want to plan to stay all day!

Nelsonville Music Festival, May 31-June 3

The hills are alive with the sounds of music – for FOUR whole days! Join the crowd and rock out to over 60 musical acts, multiple stages, a beer garden and on-site camping. Want to bring the kiddos? No worries, the festival will host a range of kid’s activities and artisan vendors for family-friendly fun.

Southwest

National Train Day at LM&M Rail Road, May 5

Celebrate National Train Day at LM&M Rail Road in Lebanon! On board, you and the family will experience the amazing views as you travel through the country side of Southwestern, Ohio. Memphis Belle Exhibit Opening, May 17-19

Salute history with the B-17F Memphis Belle™ - going on display at The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton May 17, exactly 75 years after completing its final WWII mission. This new exhibit surrounding the Memphis Belle will include interactive displays, rare archival film footage and many never-before-seen personal artifacts!

Central

Ohio Tourism Day, May 9

Experience Ohio's diverse destinations, attractions and events in Columbus! This FREE event for the whole family will introduce you to exciting destinations from the Hocking Hills to the shores of Lake Erie – and everything in between – all on the Statehouse lawn! Enjoy great live entertainment, take your photo with costumed characters, win free giveaways and chow down with your favorite food trucks.

Children’s Garden Grand Opening, May 19

Head to Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus for the Grand Opening of the Scotts Miracle Grow Children’s Garden! Featuring sixteen different interactive experiences celebrating the Ohio landscape, the Garden will focus on introducing and connecting children to the natural world, as well as renewing that connection for their parents and caregivers. The Memorial Tournament, May 28-June 3

Fans across the country unite at the Memorial Tournament for a fantastic display of golf in Ohio. Head to the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin to experience this top PGA Tour event! Get involved with activities including 4-mile race benefitting Nationwide Children’s on May 24 or volunteer at the event and be close to the action! To order tickets, click here.

Northwest

The Biggest Week in American Birding, May 4-13

Bird is the word in Northwest Ohio! This event at Maumee Bay State Park features birding workshops, guided birding activities, half-day birding van tours, keynote speakers, vendors, evening socials, songbird banding demonstrations, and more.

Antique Car Gathering at Sauder Village, May 19

Travel back in time at Sauder Village! Celebrate the automobiles of days gone by with more than 100 antique cars on display in the Historic Village. Cars on display will be older than 1942 with some dating back to the early 1900s! Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with car owners, ride in and even drive an antique car!

Northeast

Mother’s Day at Stan Hywet, May 13

Give your mom the gift of great memories as you walk through the flowers and celebrate at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens.  All moms receive a complimentary admission which includes a self-guided tour of the Manor House, Corbin Conservatory, Gate Lodge, Playgarden and the landscaped historic gardens and grounds. HorseFest, May 19-20

Horsing Around? Neigh. Enjoy the majestic beauty, splendor and grace of the horse during HorseFest at Lake Metroparks Farmpark. Explore the unique relationship equines have shared with humans to farm, build cities and influence cultures. Experience hands-on activities for all ages, presentations, demonstrations and competitions and meet a variety of horse breeds to discover their unique qualities.
